Badam Halwa | Almond Halwa | Badam Ka Halwa

Badam Halwa, also known as Almond Halwa or Badam Ka Halwa, is a traditional sweet dish from the Indian subcontinent, made with ground almonds, sugar, ghee and cardamom powder. It is a popular dessert in North India, especially in the state of Punjab and also in Pakistan. It is often served during festivals and special occasions.

Here is a recipe for preparing Badam Halwa at home:


  • 1 cup blanched and peeled almonds
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder


  1. Soak the almonds in warm water for about 1 hour. Drain and grind them to a fine paste, using a little milk if needed.
  2. In a pan, heat ghee and add the almond paste and stir continuously over medium heat.
  3. Add the sugar and water and stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens.
  4. Add the cardamom powder and stir well.
  5. Cook for a few more minutes until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan and forms a ball.
  6. Serve hot or warm and garnish with chopped almonds if desired.

You can adjust the quantity of sugar as per your taste. It can be served hot or cold. Enjoy!
