Coconut halwa recipe | Nariyal ka halwa recipe | Thengai halwa | How to make Kobbari Halwa

To make Coconut Halwa (also known as Nariyal ka halwa, Thengai halwa or Kobbari Halwa) you will need the following ingredients:

  • 2 cups grated coconut
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp cashew nuts and raisins (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a pan, heat ghee and fry the cashews and raisins until golden brown and keep it aside.
  2. Add the grated coconut and sauté for 2-3 minutes or until it turns golden brown.
  3. Add the sugar and mix well, stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely.
  4. Add the milk and mix well.
  5. Cook the mixture on medium heat until it thickens and the ghee starts to separate from the mixture.
  6. Add the cardamom powder and fried cashews and raisins. Mix well.
  7. Cook for another 2-3 minutes or until the halwa starts to pull away from the sides of the pan.
  8. Turn off the heat and transfer the halwa to a serving dish.
  9. Let it cool down and then cut into desired shape and serve.

Note: You can adjust the amount of sugar according to your taste preference. You can also add some saffron strands for a variation.
