Easy Prawns Pulao, also known as Prawns Pulav, is a delicious and flavorful dish made with prawns, rice, and a variety of spices. It is a simple and easy dish that can be made in one pot and is often served as a main course. Here is a simple recipe for making Easy Prawns Pulao:


  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 pound prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro for garnish


  1. Rinse the rice in water and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pot or pressure cooker, heat the oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the cumin seeds and wait for them to crackle.
  3. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  4. Add the prawns, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well and sauté for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the soaked rice, water, and cilantro. Mix well.
  6. If using a pot, cover it and cook over medium-low heat for about 18-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  7. If using a pressure cooker, close the lid and cook for 1 whistle on high heat and then for another 5-7 minutes on low heat.
  8. Turn off the heat and wait for the pressure to release naturally.
  9. Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and fluff the rice with a fork.
  10. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.


  • You can add some vegetables like carrots, peas, or corn for more nutrition and variety.
  • You can also add some lime juice for added flavor.
  • You can also add some chopped mint leaves for extra flavor.
