Green Chilli Chutney, also known as Andhra Style Green Chillies Pacchadi, is a popular condiment from the Andhra Pradesh region of India. It is made with green chillies, ginger, garlic, and a blend of spices, and is typically served as a dip or a side dish with meals. Here is a recipe for making Green Chilli Chutney:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of green chillies, washed and chopped
- 1/4 cup of grated coconut
- 1 tbsp of roasted chana dal (dalia)
- 1 tbsp of urad dal
- 2-3 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 inch ginger
- 1/4 tsp of cumin seeds
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tsp of oil
- 1 tbsp of tamarind paste (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the urad dal and chana dal and fry until they turn golden brown.
- Add cumin seeds and fry for a few seconds.
- Add the chopped green chillies, ginger, and garlic and fry until the green chillies are wilted.
- Allow the mixture to cool down before blending it with the grated coconut, tamarind paste and salt in a blender.
- Add a little water to adjust the consistency of the chutney.
- Once everything is well blended, transfer it to a serving bowl.
- Serve as a dip with dosa, idli or as a side dish with rice.
Note: You can adjust the amount of green chillies to suit your taste. Also, you can add other ingredients like roasted peanuts, sesame seeds or jaggery to give a different flavor.
