Mirchi Ka Salan is a popular dish from Hyderabad, India, typically served as a side dish with biryani. It is a spicy and tangy gravy made with long green chilies and peanuts.
Ingredients:
- 6-8 long green chilies
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 2 dried red chilies
- 2 cups sliced onions
- 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/4 cup roasted peanuts
- 1/4 cup tamarind pulp
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
- Cut the green chilies lengthwise, keeping the stem intact. Remove the seeds and keep them aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, and dried red chilies. Once they start to crackle, add the sliced onions and sauté until they are translucent.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute
