Rice Rava Upma Recipe:
- 1 cup rice rava (uppudu pindi/arisi rava)
- 2 cups water
- 1 tsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 tsp chana dal
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2-3 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1/4 tsp asafoetida
- 1/4 cup peas or mixed vegetables
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro for garnish
- In a pan, dry roast the rice rava over medium heat until lightly golden brown.
- In a separate pan, heat the oil over medium heat.
- Add the mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, cumin seeds, green chilies, ginger, asafoetida and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the peas or mixed vegetables and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the water, salt and bring it to boil.
- Slowly add the roasted rice rava, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
- Reduce the heat to low and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the rava is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and garnish with cilantro.
