Tomato Bhath, is a popular and flavorful dish made with tomatoes, rice, and a variety of spices. It is a one-pot meal that can be made quickly and easily, and is often served as a main course. Here is a simple recipe for making Tomato Bath:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of rice
- 4 cups of water
- 3-4 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
- Wash the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain the water and set it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds and wait for them to crackle.
- Add the chopped onions and green chilies and sauté until the onions are translucent.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes until the tomatoes are soft.
- Add the soaked rice and 4 cups of water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked through.
- Once done, garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
