Egg Cubes Masala | Spicy Egg Junnu Curry

Egg Cubes Masala, also known as Spicy Egg Junnu Curry, is a delicious and flavorful dish that combines eggs with a spicy masala sauce. It is a popular dish in South India, typically served with rice or roti.

Here is a recipe for Egg Cubes Masala:


  • 6 eggs
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 1 tsp chana dal
  • 10 curry leaves


  1. Hard boil the eggs and remove the shells. Cut the eggs into small cubes and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal and curry leaves. Once they start to splutter, add in the ginger, garlic, and green chilies.
  3. Add the onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  4. Add the tomatoes and sauté until they become soft and mushy.
  5. Add the red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and turmeric powder. Cook for a few seconds.
  6. Add the egg cubes and stir well.
  7. Add enough water to get the desired consistency and bring it to a boil.
  8. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  9. Season the curry with salt to taste.
  10. Serve the Egg
