Instant Tomato Masala Oats, also known as Masala Oats, is a popular dish in Indian cuisine. It’s a delicious and nutritious breakfast option that can be prepared quickly. It’s a simple dish made by cooking oats in a tomato-based masala sauce with a variety of spices. It is a great way to start your day, as oats are a good source of carbohydrates and dietary fiber, and the tomato-based masala sauce provides a good source of vitamins and minerals.

Here is a simple recipe for cooking Instant Tomato Masala Oats:


  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)


  1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
  3. Add onions and garlic, and sauté until onions are translucent.
  4. Add diced tomatoes, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add water, oats and salt. Stir well.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan with a lid.
  8. Cook the oats for 2-3 minutes or until they are cooked through.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in chopped cilantro.
  10. Serve hot as a breakfast dish.

Note: You can add more vegetables like peas, carrots, capsicums, to add more flavor and nutrition. Also, you can add some more spices like mustard seeds and curry leaves for additional flavor.
