Banana Rajgira Sheera is a traditional Indian sweet dish made from ripe banana, Rajgira flour (Amaranth flour) and jaggery. It is a popular dish consumed during religious fasting periods such as vrat (Hindu fasting days) when certain foods are avoided.
Here is a recipe for making Banana Rajgira Sheera:
Ingredients:
- 3 ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup Rajgira flour
- 1/2 cup jaggery
- 1/4 cup ghee
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts of your choice (optional)
Instructions:
- In a pan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Once the ghee is hot, add the mashed banana and sauté for a couple of minutes.
- Add the Rajgira flour and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the jaggery and mix well until it is completely dissolved.
- Add cardamom powder and chopped nuts (if using) and mix well.
- Cook for 2-3 more minutes or until the mixture becomes thick.
- Serve the Banana Rajgira Sheera hot as a dessert.
Note: You can also add some saffron strands for a rich flavor or some dry fruits of your choice. You can also add some milk for a creamier texture.
