Vrat Ka Paratha is a traditional Indian flatbread made with a combination of flours that are typically consumed during fasting periods. These parathas are made with a combination of flours such as singhare ka atta (water chestnut flour), kuttu ka atta (buckwheat flour), and rajgira atta (amaranth flour) and are typically served with a variety of curries and yogurt.
To make Vrat Ka Paratha, you will need:
- 1 cup singhare ka atta (water chestnut flour)
- 1 cup kuttu ka atta (buckwheat flour)
- 1 cup rajgira atta (amaranth flour)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ajwain seeds
- 1/4 cup ghee or oil
- Water as needed
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the singhare ka atta, kuttu ka atta, rajgira atta, salt and ajwain seeds. Mix well.
- Add ghee or oil and mix until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- Gradually add water and knead until a smooth dough is formed. Cover and set aside for 15-20 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out each ball into a small circle.
- Heat a pan or griddle over medium heat.
- Once hot, place the rolled out dough on the pan or griddle and cook until bubbles appear on the surface. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
- Remove from heat and serve with curries and yogurt.
